Hair Play, Fair Play - New York, April 25, 2007 - Splendora Event Link
DeveloPlus likes to play, seriously. The California-based hair-care research and development company introduced its newest consumer brands to New York's beauty editors during a cocktail party held at Drom's Fine Fragrance Studios in Tribeca on April 25. According to company executives, Splat and Color Oops are at the cutting-edge of a hair-color revolution.
The idea was to allow the consumer to experiment extravagant permanent hair color, like the Splat Rebellious range designed to last for six weeks and go back to natural in a short period of time, without damaging the hair or spending too much money. According to Philip Schaff, national sales and marketing director, DeveloPlus, the technology behind Color Oops promotes hair as a fashion accessory. "You can be a brunette for a job interview, a flaming redhead to go on a date, and then back to blonde for a girl's night out call in the same week," he explained. The products reverse the hair coloring process, but they don't contain bleach or ammonia, so they won't dry-out the hair and scalp. The formulation's key ingredient, hydrosulfite, works by shrinking the color molecule so that color washes away in a period of 20 minutes, bringing the hair back to its lightest color and revitalizing it with aloe vera and soy protein.
"Besides color experimentation, Color Oops was created to help erase color mistakes, fast. While bleaching at a salon takes hours of work, damages your hair and hurts your wallet, this product takes your pigment right back to where it was," explained Andi Scarbrough, director of education and training, DeveloPlus. Color Oops has no reported effect on natural pigment and lets consumers re-color their hair on the same day, which could never be done with bleaching.
"We are giving the power to the consumer to fix a bad coloring themselves," Ms. Scarbrough added. Color Oops is available in two versions, Extra Strength, which retails for $12.99, and Extra Conditioning, priced at $10.99.
Splat Rebellious Hair Color kits are available in four hues: Blue Envy, Luscious Raspberry, Pink Fetish and Lusty Lavender, and retail for $9.99.
